Dr. Pierre Brassard
Dr. Pierre Brassard
It was in 1985 that Dr. Pierre Brassard obtained his medical degree from Laval University with full honors and finished first in his class. Four years later, he obtained his Specialist diploma in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from the University of Montreal and subsequently over-specialized in microsurgery at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont and in general reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in Minnesota.
From 1990 to 1996, Dr. Brassard practiced at the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec and at the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis as a surgeon and professor. In 1996, he became a member of the plastic surgery department of the Hôtel-Dieu de St-Jérôme, where he served as department head from 1998 to 2000. Since 2000, he has devoted himself entirely to private practice at the Center Métropolitain de Chirurgie. He quickly took up the position of medical director and then, in 2006, became its sole owner.
His private practice then is divided equally between cosmetic surgery and gender affirmation surgery. Thanks to his experience in gender affirmation surgery acquired since 1994, he has become an international reference in the field. The Centre Métropolitain de Chirurgie, through its subsidiary GRS Montreal, becomes the largest center in the world in terms of the number of procedures performed each year thanks to the expansion of its physical facilities, the acquisition of know-how state-of-the-art in management and a team of more than 130 employees, most of whom are registered nurses. Today her practice is almost exclusively reserved for gender affirmation procedures and participation as a guest in various courses and webinars. He is also part of the committee responsible for updating Version 8 of the WPATH Standards of Care.
