COVID-19 FAQ

English will follow.

Are guides and visitors authorized in your facilities?

Yes, visitors and chaperones are allowed. Their registration in the visitor register is still required. In addition, we allow the presence of two visitors, one person in the bedroom and the other in the waiting room at the Poincaré entrance or in the Asclepiade lounge.

What infection prevention measures are currently in place?

Wearing a mask is no longer mandatory. You can still wear it if you feel the need.

Remember that hand hygiene remains the best way to prevent the transmission of infections and we encourage you to practice it as often as necessary.

If I had COVID-19, can my surgery still take place? If I suspect that I have had COVID-19 without having taken a screening test, can my surgery still take place?

Your surgery may take place 10 days after having a positive result to COVID-19.

For people who have stayed in intensive care due to a COVID-19 infection, the time between discharge (departure) from the hospital and surgery is 12 weeks.

If you think you have had COVID-19 without having taken a screening test, please let us know and we will analyze your situation.

Can I get a COVID-19 vaccine just before my surgery?

You may receive a vaccine prior to your surgery, but we ask that it be given a minimum of 3 days prior to your surgery to ensure that you do not have side effects from the vaccine on the day of surgery. Side effects or symptoms that are still present may force us to postpone your surgery.

Do I need to be vaccinated to have surgery? If yes, how many doses?

No There is no ministerial directive telling us to prevent a person from accessing health care, regardless of vaccination status.

Do I need to take a PCR screening test before surgery?

Since July 8, 2024, according to public health guidelines, it is no longer required to take a COVID-19 test before surgery, even if it requires hospitalization.

However, a PCR screening test may be required by our team in certain situations, in particular in case of exposure to a person with COVID-19 or in the presence of symptoms of COVID-19 before the date of surgery.

Upon arrival at our establishment, patients will have to answer a questionnaire on the probability of contact with a person with COVID-19 in the 10 days preceding surgery, and/or the presence of symptoms similar to COVID-19.

How can I take a PCR test before surgery if there are restrictions on accessing this test in my area?

A prescription from your surgeon can be sent to you to facilitate your procedures. It is also possible to take a PCR screening in a private center in your region (fees are to be expected). Rapid (antigenic) test results are not accepted. The surgery will be cancelled unless a negative result of a compliant test (PCR) is received.

If I have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result but have symptoms that are generally associated with COVID-19, will my surgery be cancelled?

Yes. Our medical team will assess the situation to postpone your surgery and instructions will be given to you.

Are companions and visitors allowed in your facilities?
