SHIFT

Temporary position (1 year), 8/15 on Monday from 15:00 to 21:00 and from Tuesday to Thursday from 15:00 to 23:00.

MISSION

The Metropolitan Surgery Center is aimed at private clients. Its activities are mainly gender affirming surgeries, but also elective and reconstructive cosmetic surgeries, laparoscopic bariatric surgeries, urological surgeries and otolaryngological surgeries. In addition, the CMC offers the care required by surgeries thanks to its pre and post-operative clinic, its care units and its competent staff who listen to the needs of clients.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the responsibility of the DGA — Management of Medical Care and Services, the Beneficiary Attendant (PAB) participates in the care of patients when required and responds to requests from his immediate supervisor, the assistant head nurse, the nurse and the auxiliary nurse in place. They offer respectful and quality services to customers at all times. If necessary, they provide patients with basic care and may be required to install certain devices.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be available at all times to respond to emergencies;
  • Ensure the continuity of care and the safety of patients in collaboration with the nurse in charge;
  • Respond to patient call signals;
  • Check the rooms regularly to ensure the comfort of the patients;
  • Participate in the basic care of patients in the care unit (UDS) in collaboration with the nurse in charge;
  • Transport patients from the operating room to the UDS;
  • Participate in the transfer of patients from the stretcher to the bed;
  • Distribute patients' meals with the help of the kitchen worker;
  • Participate in the mobilization of patients;
  • Help when patients leave;
  • Prepare the rooms when leaving for the operating room;
  • Remove soiled fabrics from the beds when leaving and remake the bed with clean bedding after disinfection;
  • Prepare rooms in preparation for new admissions;
  • Empty the urinary catheters at the end of each shift or more frequently as requested by the nurse responsible for the patient;
  • Fill up the supplies of equipment at each shift and ensure that the material is in sufficient quantity;
  • Perform any other related task at the request of his immediate supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Secondary V
  • Beneficiary Attendant Training including PDSP (formerly PDSB)
  • Experience in surgery (an asset)
  • Excellent command of French and English to be able to communicate with our French and English speaking patients
