MISSION

The Metropolitan Surgery Center is aimed at private clients. Its activities are mainly gender affirming surgeries, but also elective and reconstructive cosmetic surgeries, laparoscopic bariatric surgeries, urological surgeries and otolaryngological surgeries. In addition, the CMC offers the care required by surgeries thanks to its pre and post-operative clinic, its care units and its competent staff who listen to the needs of clients.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the responsibility of the head of the operating room, the nurse works in close collaboration with the medical team and colleagues to ensure quality perioperative care that is safe, adapted to the needs of patients and in accordance with current standards of professional practice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide internal and external service during surgeries in compliance with operating room nurses standards (AIISOC);
  • Report verbally to the nurse in the recovery room and provide immediate care to patients upon arrival in the recovery room;
  • Write the required notes on the operating room sheets;
  • Ensuring the well-being and comfort of the patient throughout surgery;
  • Count narcotics with another nurse and sign the register provided for this purpose at the beginning and at the end of the shift, if applicable;
  • Plan meal times according to the workload and in close collaboration with your immediate supervisor;
  • Ensure the proper functioning and appropriate use of materials and equipment before, during and after surgery;
  • Ensure that you have the required supplies and equipment before bringing the patient into the room and communicating to his immediate supervisor any breakage or problem related to or the proper functioning of the equipment;
  • Collaborate in the review of procedures, protocols, informative documents, care techniques or new documents and in the identification of risks;
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff;
  • Actively participate in patient safety activities and measures in the operating room, in service meetings and in planned trainings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Member in good standing of the OIIQ
  • DEC in nursing
  • Relevant operating room experience
  • Knowledge of reading heart monitors
  • Up to date CPR training
  • Good knowledge of English, an asset
